GENERAL SUMMARY:
The User Experience Designer will be responsible for designing engaging experiences that create positive outcomes for both the customer and the business. The role is responsible for several areas of the design process including analysis of user needs, architecture of layouts, flows & interactions, and design iteration to achieve a visually elevated UI aesthetics. The designer will work across the entirety of the Designer Brands Inc. websites and applications. The UX Designer will work directly with Product Owners, Developers and other cross-collaborative partners to deliver great user experiences and will be expected to be well versed in research methodology and current design trends.
REPORTS TO: User Experience Supervisor
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Craft intuitive and shippable product experiences, leveraging DSW design standards, industry best practices and customer feedback *Produce design deliverables utilizing the Sketch app, InVision and/or other prototyping tools: (Detailed site maps, user & task flows, customer journeys, taxonomies, wireframes, elevated UI design & mockups) *Showcase your work in cross-functional design reviews for all necessary features *Evaluate competitor and industry websites to provide a meaningful analysis of findings *Plan and help conduct user research, including user interviews, usability testing, task analysis and contextual inquiry *Operate in an agile development environment, working closely with product owners, engineers, analytics, and QA *Collaborate closely with agile teams to work through design details during the development of code *Support and influence product roadmap planning and prioritization
REQUIRED SKILLS:
*Proficient in Sketch App (Preferred), Figma, or XD. Working knowledge of InVision and other design related tools. *Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS. *Communication and presentation skills with ability to clearly present work and articulate the rationale for decisions that led to it. *Confidence and self-motivation to drive forward projects that will improve the user's experience
EXPERIENCE:
*3+ years of design experience for consumers and consumer brands
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*Bachelor's Degree in business, IT, design, creative, communications, or related field
